What a photo knows about you
27 May 2026 · 5 min read
When I ask a direct question, you answer from the part of you that has answered it before. The story is smooth because it has been told many times.
When I place a photograph on the table and ask what you see, something else happens. There is no rehearsed answer for a picture of an empty chair on a shore.
The projection you make is yours. It's information you would never have volunteered, and often it arrives with surprise — 'I didn't expect to say that.'
That surprise is the working material of a good session. Everything after it tends to be more honest.
