A very well-defended fantasy

Most people don't live in the present. They live in one of two places:
The past — replaying old experiences as proof of how things are. "I've been here before. I know how this ends."
The future — but not freely. We use the past to hallucinate it. We take our old wounds, our old failures, our expired evidence — and we project them forward as truth.
And then the mind does something even more subtle. It goes searching for proof.
It scans everything around you — every conversation, every look, every outcome — to confirm the story it already believes.
If you're not aware of this, you're not living in reality. You're living in a very well-defended fantasy.
And it shows up as doubt. Fear. Freeze. Fight. Run. Not because the threat is real — but because the mind is replaying a story and calling it the truth.
Here's what becomes possible when you notice this:
Step 1 — Notice. Where are you right now — past or future? How long have you been there? What has it been costing you?
Step 2 — Question. If what you've been thinking was just a story — what becomes available to you right now? What do you actually want to move toward?
Step 3 — Find peace with it. Everything you did in that mental prison made sense at the time. It was survival. It was coping. Recognising that creates space — and from that space, you can start building something real.
The present moment isn't empty.
It's where everything actually happens!
